Tax dates and deadlines
16 March 2016 Budget Day
6 April 2016 Lifetime allowance for pension savings reduced to £1.000.000.
Personal savings allowance introduced.
Significant changes to taxation of dividends introduced.
31 July 2016 Deadline for second payment on account to be made for the tax year ended 5 April 2016.
5 October 2016 Deadline for advising HMRC of any new sources of income. chargeable gains or if you are required to complete a tax return for the first time for 2015/16.
31 October 2016 2015/16 tax return to be filed on or before this date unless it is being filed online.
30 December 2016 If you would like your tax liability of £3,000 or less to be collected through your tax code for your employment or pension then your tax return has to be submitted online by 30 December (note:the deadline is 30 September for any returns that are submitted in paper form).
31 January 2017

2015/16 tax returns are to be submitted online and non- submission will result in a penalty.

Balancing payment of tax due for the tax year ended 5 April 2016 and first payment on account for the tax year ended 5 April 2017 (based on 50% of the total tax due for the tax year ended 5 April 2016).
