The Mariana Growth EIS Fund offers investors the opportunity to invest into a portfolio of EIS qualifying companies across multiple sectors targeting a return of £2.00 per £1.00 invested. We favour companies with a disruptive business model or cutting-edge technologies that allow them to challenge the incumbent within their sector.

Our current preferred sectors including Hydroponics, Waste Management and UK Construction. We have pre-identified investee companies with HMRC advance assurance in a number of sectors and intend to have a full allotment this tax year (18/19).

Founded in 2009, Mariana was established as an institutional brokerage firm. Over the years, we have developed a number of business lines; expanding our offering to include Market Strategy & Research, Real Estate and Tax Advisory Services. In addition to our well-established institutional presence, we offer a range of Structured Products, Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) and Business Relief (BR) qualifying investments.

Headquartered in the City of London, we now employ over 80 members of staff and have offices in San Francisco and New York.

Target Sector – Hydroponics

The production of crops in a non-soil environment has the potential to deliver sustainable, low carbon footprint food for the UK’s growing population. Hydroponic systems aim to maximise food yields and quality, extend the shelf life of products, all in pesticide free environment.

Whilst the technology is not new it has yet to be rolled out in a large scale in the UK. Declining availability of arable land, coupled with rising populations are providing us with the long-term demand /supply dynamics we like, when looking for long term growth companies.

The aim of our target investee companies in this sector is to develop a sustainable, low carbon, localised food source that will be non-weather dependent, producing lower cost crops from using less land mass. By strategically placing sites around the country the company can bring Agriculture closer to the consumer, cutting carbon food miles in the process.

Whilst the majority of the companies produce will be sold directly to wholesale, the management team believe that a well-managed local distribution network will mean they can achieve much higher values (up to 3 times more) for our products, by selling to local restaurants and food distributors as the demand for premium quality local produce continues to grow in the UK.
