Goldfinch Entertainment, the renowned UK film financing company, was launched in January 2014 to provide professional services to assist media professionals in creating and developing commercially attractive film and TV productions. It is run and managed by experienced sector specialists with experience across the board in production, tax, accounting, finance, law, marketing, sales and distribution, and investment.
Originally formed as a single EIS company looking to raise £4m over 3 years to invest in 8 projects,Goldfinch Entertainment now approaches its 3rd year anniversary and can demonstrate notable successes, having raised and deployed over £60m in to over 105 projects through a variety of different structures.
Intelligent structuring of EIS products is at the heart of the Goldfinch approach and this means that clients investments are the last piece of finance into projects and the first out in the recoupment waterfall. Additionally, on the Goldfinch EIS products supplied via Kuber, the invested amounts are underpinned against the future sales expectations of films through legitimate sales agent agreements. This means that once an investor’s maximum tax reliefs are taken into account their risk exposure can be extensively mitigated.
Projects and clients of Goldfinch have littered the UK festival and awards scene of late with titles such as Burn Burn Burn, Tiger Raid, My Feral Heart, Hector, Broken, The Carer and Comedian’s Guide to Survival. Many more have achieved strong sales and international exposure such as The Eichmann Show, Le Mans, Combatabots, and Asterix to name but a few.
Their projects have attracted increasingly impressive talent, including from Orlando Bloom, Bill Nighy, Sir John Hurt, Charles Dance, David Tennant, James Buckley, Brian Cox, Helen Baxendale, Martin Freeman, Anthony LaPaglia, and Hayley Squires.
