Great Point Ventures EIS

Investment Objective

Great Point Investments (“Manager”) seeks to provide investors with a portfolio of high growth businesses operating in the UK creative industries with the potential to address large new markets or disrupt existing ones.

Great Point’s ultimate aim is to drive significant capital growth and will achieve this by looking to leverage its decades of experience, deep sector knowledge and extensive network of industry contacts and strategic partners.

The Manager believes that the following creative industry sub-sectors present the most attractive opportunities for the Fund:

  1. Content Creation
  2. Production Facilities and Services
  3. Content Distribution and Marketing
  4. Future Media and Technology

The companies sought by the Manager must meet the following criteria:

  • potential for rapid growth and development
  • led by entrepreneurial management teams with unique talents and a proven track record of achievement
  • potential to address large new markets or disrupt existing ones
  • attractive candidates for acquisition by large corporations
  • potential to generate returns that are multiples of the invested capital for investors.

The Manager will ensure each investor has a number of investments in their portfolio (minimum four) in order to ensure a diversified approach, with all target companies carefully selected for their ability to deliver an attractive risk/return profile. The Manager will only invest in companies that have been granted advance assurance from HMRC that they should qualify for the benefits of EIS relief.

The Manager believes its USPs to be:

  1. Unrivalled media sector knowledge;
  2. Proprietary deal flow;
  3. Broad investment strategy within a defined sector in which the Manager is highly experienced;
  4. Sector diversification within the EIS industry that is currently heavily tech focused.

Exit Strategy

The Manager is targeting an investment horizon of between four to six years (no guarantee implied). The main routes to exit are likely to be a trade sale, a sale to a financial buyer or strategic investor, or a sale to management.
